I have a Master’s from Northwestern University and practiced orthopedic physical therapy for 12 years. I worked in both a clinical setting with patients and students as well as in the classroom as an adjunct faculty member at Northwestern. Health and wellness has been a part of my career for over 20 years.
In 2006 I learned I had a severe gluten intolerance and an autoimmune thyroid dysfunction and it became critical for me to change the way I lived, ate, and cared for my body if I wanted to live the energetic life I always wanted.
Many things in my life had to change, including my career that was fast-paced and often left me so exhausted I barely had enough left in me at the end of the day to care for my daughters. I wasn't alone with this feeling. Many women I knew were burning the wick at both ends and had no idea how to care for themselves, provide for their families and live vibrant lives.
Natural Wellness Girl was born out of a deep desire to help people live healthier and more energetic lives. More than 10 years later, I have learned so much about wellness and have been able to help thousands of people with their path toward total wellness.

After an unexpected ownership change in the company, Kara found herself for the first time without a job. it was then that I realized my work-life, family life balance had been totally skewed. That was 6 years ago.

I attended college at San Diego Miramar College and earned a degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences. I previously worked for CJ Charles Jewelers as a Sales Associate selling high end timepieces and jewelry. I managed my own counter sales within Bloomingdales fashion jewelry department store as a vendor. Engaging with Bloomingdales, I was the authorized vendor manager in charge of Tous Jewelry sales, marketing and clientele. Through written communication and in store sales events I commissioned and maintained all existing relationships via client book. After working at Tous, I took on a Regional Sales Consultant position for a local San Diego start up company, Bird Rock Laboratories. It was an unpaid internship. My co worker and I arranged appointments with doctors, promoted company laboratory services, followed market trends of competitors products and sales, planned work schedules, prepared presentations, and followed-up with quality leads. During my time at BirdRock Laboratory, I was encouraged to get my certificate in Clinical Trial Research with a computer based course from the NIH National Institute of Health. The training correlated with a study the doctor was trying to accomplish. I am passionate about health, wellness and fitness and will share my clinical knowledge with you!
